In 2010 we are happy to present to you again the New Orleans Swing between the 27th and 29th of August, with some of the most prominent representatives of the genre.
This year’s festival will evoke the spirit of Benny Goodman and Django Reinhardt. On the 27th of August the Budapest Jazz Orchestra will host clarinetist – saxophonist Ken Peplowski, a representative of the American Swing Renaissance, who is regarded as the truest nurturer of Benny Goodman’s heritage.
Beside the Hungarian Swing Stars founded and led by Béla Szalóky on the 28th of August we will have another American guest: the Vaché brothers – trumpetist Warren Vaché and clarinetist Allan Vaché who also gained their professional experience in Goodman’s band in the 70s – will bring back to life the music of the golden age of the 40s.
The Joscho Stephan Trio’s concert on the last festival day of August 29th is dedicated to the memory of the virtuoso French swing guitarist, Django Reinhardtbonr born 100 years ago. The band founded by two guitar players (father and son) will pay tribute to this genious of French gypsy jazz with amazing brilliance.
